After a string of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Dubbed Space Key and created in collaboration with an unknown artist the project is made up of an advanced carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The new project, which is dubbed the Space Key, is a work of art created in collaboration with an unidentified artist. The unique NFT is a physical object that has a link to exclusive digital artwork, accessible via an QR code printed on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned in the coming weeks.
The Space Key is made of carbon composite material which Lamborghini, in the course of a research project in 2019 and sent to the International Space Station. After returning to earth, carbon fiber was fashioned into this unique artwork. The physical component is embossed with an NFT serial number, which is tied to the corresponding digital artwork via an QR code on the back.
For those who don't know, NFTs are unique identification numbers that are stored on a distributed blockchain ledger, and linked to a digital asset such as a picture, video, music or other record. This allows owners to guarantee authenticity and the scarcity of their tokens on the internet.
Working with NFT PRO, a white-label NFT solution for companies, Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to a new level. After weeks of social-media posts hints, luxury automobile maker Lamborghini finally announced its first initiative for non-fungible tokens (NFT). Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material. It was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research program. After returning to Earth the block was engraved with a QR codes that link to the digital component in the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times when the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was filmed by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.
Oefner utilized a balloon with a camera to take each of the individual shots that were then merged to create the final image. The result is a photo that is completely out of the world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising away from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off soon, but the exact date and time of the event hasn't been revealed yet.
